Mara Farcasanu, MD

Dr. Mara Farcasanu joined Family Practice Group in 2025. Dr. Farcasanu is originally from Romania, grew up in the midwest, and moved to Boston for medical training. She completed medical school at Harvard Medical School and residency at the Tufts Family Medicine Residency at Cambridge Health Alliance. She enjoys building therapeutic relationships with patients and their families, supporting their health, and caring for them in times of acute and chronic illness.

Dr. Farcasanu has a special interest in caring for newborns and growing families. She is a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) practicing Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine within the primary care setting. She is pursuing physician board certification in this field through the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine. Dr Farcasanu can assist breastfeeding families with many challenges associated with lactation including:
• Slow infant weight gain
• Difficulty with latch
• Evaluation for tongue tie
• Concern for low milk supply
• Oversupply, plugged ducts, engorgement
• Mastitis
• Nipple pain and wounds
• Prematurity
• Pumping
• Planning return to work
• Weaning
Outside of medicine, Dr Farcasanu enjoys spending time in nature, singing, and exploring the world with her husband and young children.
